Studying Nitsavim - Deuteronomy 29:9- 30:20

Nitzavim- Standing The Torah portion for this week has been given the name "Nitzavim" meaning "standing". When I read this the hymn  Standing on the Promises of G-d comes to mind. I grew up in the United church, but my whole life as long as I can remember that is, I did not understand why we went to church on Sunday instead of honouring the seventh day- from Friday evening to Saturday evening. Writing G-d instead of God still feels a bit strange though, Ant way, back to this week's prescribed readings: Torah Portion -The  Law Deuteronomy 29:9- 30:20. How I Study Bible Readings There are many free resources  available online for studying this Biblical passage. However if you truly want to understand a book , you need to take it to the author and originator of the book- take it to the LORD in prayer.  1, Pray Pray and ask Our Father- Creator of everything visible and invisible, to guide you in your studies. It is written: My people do not have because they do not...

Reading , Writing, Remembering - Deuteronomical Promises of Our Creator The Torah reading for August 5,2023 is   Deuteronomy 7:12 - 11:25 and bears the title "Ekev". Are you wondering- What does Ekev mean and how can these scriptures be relevant to our lives today? As I read these scriptures this morning I am reminded of a strange true story that happened to a close friend of mine who was once protected by hornets when she cried out to God for help.  Now you may think I am totally whack and wonder what on earth this would have to do with scriptures, but just look in the book and you will see that Our Creator promises He will use hornets to attack the enemies of the Isrealites! Yes, it's there in Deuteronomy 7:20! But , just for now, here's an overview of the Shabbat reading for today from Deuteronomy. Ekev - What Does This Mean?

Mini Messianic Miracle: August Shabbat Readings via Ottawa Messianic Fellowship!

Ask and It Shall Be Given! My Early Morning Mini Messianic Miracle!  Last Shabbat,I was inwardly wishing I had a listing of the Shabbat Readings in advance so that I might be able to be better prepared in advance with questions about the scriptures during live Shabbat services - and lo and behold, what crops up in my email early this morning?, A newsletter from the Ottawa Messianic Felowship!  Now, to you this may not seem to be much a miracle, but I get ALOT of emails in this email account, and that I would open my email and see this newsletter on the top of the stack? THAT is definitely a miraculous miracle of provision to me!  So what are the Shabbat readings for August 2023?  Here is the list I just received:  Suggested Shabbat Readings August 2023

Messianic -Who Me?

Could You Be Called to Messianic Worship? I became very interested in really reading my Bible after I had an amazing experience on August 13, 2011. By really "getting into The Book" I soon realized that many of the things I had grown up doing as a Christian were not in accordance with what I was reading in the Bible - for example observing the Sabbath on Sunday! Plus, it seemed that I might be missing out on a lot of possible blessings if I continued going blissfully down this road of misinformation.  When I was living for a brief time in Ottawa, I sought out a Messianic congregation to show a friend that there are many Jews who have come to know Yeshua as their Saviour.   Then one Shabbat as I was watching the service, the Rabbi shared how he had grown up in the Catholic faith.  I had no idea that if you were not born a Jew you could be a Messianic Rabbi or even a member of a Messianic Torah observant congregation - then I did some research and it turns out th...
